我不特別同情達賴喇嘛，甚至很討厭西方世界對他的過份崇拜，不過我認為他的話語被美國媒體曲解了。關鍵是兩句話，都被媒體從他的整體語境套出：

1.) ""Forgiveness doesn't mean forget what happened...if something is serious and it is necessary to take counter-measures, you have to take counter-measures.""

2.) “said [that] in the case of bin Laden, his action was of course destructive and the September 11 events killed thousands of people…so his action must be brought to justice.”

從第一句我們可以看出達賴支持某種反擊甚至反抗，可是報導者都有沒有明確指出，他指的 ""counter-measures""是怎樣的行動。許多媒體就大肆發揮想像力，解釋成 ""賓拉登死，達賴表示贊同""。第二句呢，我認為關鍵在justice一詞。巴基斯坦史學家Tariq Ali 在接受GritTV採訪時表示，狂歡中的美國人所信奉的正義，是「遊俠式的正義，暴民私刑的正義」，而非合乎法理程序的正義。
